About Holly

A fully trained acupuncturist

Like all members of the British Acupuncture Council, Holly undertook over 3,600 hours of study in acupuncture to gain her qualification. This training was divided into 3 equal parts:

  1. Acupuncture Theory covering pulse pictures, laws, meridians, point names, locations and needle depths, point applications and patterns;
  2. Western medical sciences and Eastern diagnosis techniques including anatomy, physiology, biology of disease, tongue diagnosis, pulse diagnosis, palpation techniques, first aid and 'red flags' ie when to refer to a Doctor; and finally
  3. Clinical training which includes interning, case studies, written theory, western medical theory and practical anatomy and point location exams.

Continued professional development is a requirement for being on the British Acupuncture Council register. Members are bound by a strict Code Of Conduct requiring full insurance cover.

Over 20,000 hours of hands-on clinical experience

Holly gained her licientiate from The College of Traditional Acupuncture in 1992. In those days Acupuncturists were few and far between. Holly was one of the very first to practice in Chippenham after buying her practice for the princely sum of two Volvo tyres from a colleague!

She worked at the practice in Park Lane along side Osteopaths Ian Cameron and Christian Sullivan for 12 years. During this time she would often sit in on Ian's clinic and on occasion worked in conjunction with him. These experiences stimulated her interest in the muscular and anatomical application of acupuncture for compliants such as sciatica, whiplash injuries, osteo-arthritis, general musular tension.

Holly would like to thank John Wragg for permitting the use of Deborah McCabe's ceramic in the design of her logo and this website.
